My son’s last day of Kindergarten is this Thursday. It is bittersweet but he is so excited to be a “big kid!” During the first week of 1st grade, the school principal will quiz each student and if they get all of the sight words correct they win a prize. Needless to say he wants it, and I want him to retain as much as possible during the Summer. So, I made up a pretty cool little game! Materials: 1 opaque cup (I used Solo) Take your list of sight words (you can find a list here by grade if you don’t have one handy) and write the sight word on the bottom half of each stick. Place all of the “Sight Word Sticks” in the cup and voila! A fun little game for us to play every night. I was planning on having him pull 5 sticks every night before bed but he was so excited last night he did 10. I can work with that!
